State of Calendaring

Here I sit at June calconnect and just can't help but notice how all of us, Apple, Yahoo, Google are all still struggling with the many use cases that exist for calendaring.
We can all come up with so many, but there are so few that are in common practice.  We need to get the basic handful implementated before we work too hard to build an open structre that no one can manage.
Lost of issues here related to access control and alarms.
